LMc THERAPY SERVICES
WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
Have you sometimes found that it is hard to share a problem with a friend or family member, as you don't wish to worry or upset them, or maybe you feel that they might not understand?
Perhaps you would prefer to discuss your problem with someone impartial in a confidential setting, where you feel safe to explore your problem further without judgement, a person who can empathise with your situation, enable you to further understand what is happening to you, and empower you to seek a solution to your problem.
These are some of the reasons why a person may choose to come to counselling.
PERSON CENTRED counselling enables the client and counsellor to work together on equal terms, building up a trusting client-counsellor relationship, in order to explore whatever issue you bring to the session in a respectful way, giving you the autonomy to restore self-control to your life.
Other theoretical tools, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or mindfulness, can also offer meaningful assistance in furthering your progress. Sometimes it is easier to draw an image or use something visual such as stones to gain further understanding of a relationship.
As a counsellor, the most important point is what would be most helpful to the client to assist them in managing their problem, as the client's needs are paramount.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, and fully adhere to their Ethical Framework, ensuring that I offer a professional,
respectful service to my clients.
